Ile Maurice - Tea Leaves
We went on a trip to a tea plantation today. I remember as a child reading about tea plantations and how exotic and mysterious it all sounded. So it was a bit amazing today to see the picked leaves go through the process of converting them into various blends of teas. This was followed by a tea tasting session (for Mrs S and daughter as although I was fascinated by the tea making process I don't actually like tea and have not drunk it since childhood).
Trips round 2 colonial tea houses were also on the agenda with lunch at one of them. Beautiful places with memories of a way of life now long gone.
We also passed a very large Hindu temple en route with a statue standing over 30m high. We had visited this the last time we were in Mauritius but even seeing it a second time it was quite an amazing sight.
