Council

Larry, Curly and Moe from the local council turned up to repair a bit of broken gutter outside my office today.

In this photo, we have Larry on the left. I'm not sure what Larry's role in this exercise is. Here we see him woofing down a light brunch. Larry doesn't like the crusts. After he had finished his sumptuous feast, Larry decided to allow the foam eating tray return to nature. Curly was the first to realise that this sort of fine eating ware does not belong in the gutter and put both it and the discarded crusts in the back of their truck. Silly Larry!

A little later, Larry had a bit of a go with the crowbar. Larry lifted and dropped the mighty crowbar (from a height of about 6 inches), 7 times!

This would be a new personnel best.

Curly, seen here in the middle, was hard at it. It would appear that he is brushing up on the finer points of operating this fearsome concrete cutting saw.

I was absolutely flabbergasted that someone of such obvious literary prowess was wasting his talents on such low brow material!

A little later, Curly showed his esteemed colleagues that not only is he a literary giant, but he is also quite handy on the jackhammer (despite Larry's enthusiastic advice in the finer points of jackhammer operation).

On the right is Moe. While in this photo Moe appears to standing idle, he is in fact dear reader, psyching himself up with a bracing cigarette. You see, he is the one charged with taking control of the saw. A man of high standing indeed!

I think he may be a specialist worker. After playing his role with the saw, Moe was able to stand around and watch patiently while other specialists were playing their part. Wisely, Moe keeps his skills to himself. He is in a niche position and he knows it.

After blocking the lane off for only a minimal time of about an hour to remove rubble, they were gone to their next assignment. A couple of witches hats and some concrete slurry the only sign that any activity had occurred.
