Pig Farm

Understatement. Something I have notice that many Kiwi's (or mainly my uncle) do.

"Do you fancy a quick drive up to see the pigs at the farm?"

Two understatements here.

Farm is not the word. I was expecting a wee holding with a couple of fields and some pigs. Try acres and acres of land - including a mountain range - a hunting lodge; swarms of deer; herds of bison and cattle; two rivers; sheep frolicking left right and centre... Estate pops into mind. Not farm. The pigs have an uncompromising view of the Crown Range. Quite jealous actually!

Second understatement - Quick drive. Climbing into a farm 4x4 truck we zoomed off road around the estate. Hair pin bends; climbing hills; dropping down into ditches; crossing rivers.... It was a nerve-racking yet fun experience. Dust clouds billowed out from the wheels as we zipped about the estate as my uncle went off and did bits n bobs of DIY stuff for his friends. I was the gate-keeper and got chuckles as I quickly buckled myself back in each time I got back in the car before we speed off again.

Driving in the UK will seem to tame now....
