double Whammy :: a second bite

So the global economy is right royally screwed... again. Turns out it's not just a cold, it's proper Manflu... this could be serious. So on yet another gloomy Black Friday I personally endeavored to find you some sweet news...

Makers of Highland Toffee, New McCowans of Stenhousemuir were set to become another victim of the economic downturn earlier this week, when it was announced they had gone into administration. Great. Yet another feelbad story. Life is a bit crap for everyone right now and this made it just another wee bit crapper. Those evil bankers have messed up our lives and now they're even taking away our sweeties. McCowan's iconic Toffee sticks and Wham bars might stick to your teeth (and the wrapper), but boy did they give you a great sugar high, so this is just gonna take us even lower.

So it is with much delight that I note that the media newsfeeds are reporting today that the company may be saved - again - this happened once already in 2006. Sweet news. A great vintage brand simply too tough to roll over and die.
