The Meggsy Tree
This is the flower buds of a tree that was planted over our most loved and, if I may say, rather exceptional last cat, Meggsy. She died at 19 years old and was a treasure every day of those 19 years. I could tell you some fascinating tales (or is it tails?!) of how we acquired her, her early life, etc, but I shan't.
The tree is Cercis Canadensis 'Forest Pansy'. A similar tree (Cercis siliquastrum) is known as the Judas Tree as it is believed that Judas Iscariot hanged himself from one.
In the courtyard of the Alhambra there were the most magnificent ancient Cercis trees (not Forest Pansy, however) in flower when we were there last year.. Parliament could have sat under each one and they were a sight.
