KARLSHAFEN

lies at the most beautiful and wondrous spot along the Weser river. The river makes a sharp turn and narrows caused by the hills at both sides.
When we go north till Höxter or Holzminden, if we go south till Gieselwerder, we say to each other, it is certainly very nice here and the river is great, but it has not the fairy tale quality that the Weser has in Karlshafen.
Prejudice?
Nowadays, since the tourism started to recede from Germany and people prefer to travel further and further fromm their homes, the place is in decline. Hotels are closing, shops tend to be old-fashined and that is a process that started already 30 years ago.
A development office has been asked by the civil servants to make a rescue plan.
Till now I did not hear of any substantial designs. The signs for the walking routes are bettered and new path developped.
The journey upon the Weser with for instance the Hessen boat attracts many people when the weather is good. And that is wondrous too, the weather is most of the time better than elsewhere. We like that a lot, of course.
The blip is taken from the one end of the harbour towards the Weser.
It is not longer an harbour at all, but shortly there are two simple boats in it, made by learning students and left there as a gift.
