Over The Hill

This is the view over the hill that greets me in the morning on my way to work and I leave behind in the evening to return home.

The white building on the right hand side of the photo is the home of our County Council whilst the tall building, Meridian Tower, is the tallest building in Wales. It is some 27 floors high consisting of flats, save for the top floor which accommodates a restaurant.

The circle in the centre of the photograph used to be the home of our local football club, Swansea City, namely the Vetch. The Swans moved from here in 2005 to the Liberty Stadium. The Vetch was opened in 1912 and at its peak could hold 30,000. In January 2011 work began to demolish the Vetch and it has been recently confirmed by the Council that it would be used temporarily for allotments.

Swansea may not support the best shopping centre in the UK, but it certainly makes up for it in the views that one can capture in and around the City - not forgetting of course, the Gower.
