Life on the Good Intent

Highland Cow

This lovely lady is half of the sculpture by Alan Potter in Stenhousemuir. Taken on the day that there is more doubt over the future of the manufacturer of iconic Scottish toffee - the factory is just round the corner.

I thought the cow and bull were a celebration of the factory but the association of Highland cattel with Stenhousemuir goes back a long way - once once the site of the largest Highland cattle market in Scotland with up to 100k beasts being driven from all over Scotland for sale. left to rust naturally to take on the natural colour of Highland cattle the sculpture also celebrates the history of iron works in the area.

So there is more to Stenhousemuir than its famous diddy football team!
