swansong for a hero

this tired old thing is a Westland Wessex helicopter with its
rotor blades folded back for storage/transportation.
it flew with the Royal Navy from the 1960`s upto the 1990`s.
it took part in the Falklands conflict in 1982 and was
used to rescue survivors from the Atlantic Conveyor
after the ship was attacked and set afire by Agentine
jets.

after many years with the Navy it was purchased by a
museum in the UK. years later it was sold again

on ebay

it now sits (as from yesterday when it arrived) at an old
WW2 airfield RAF Rednal. the old control tower is being
used by a paintball game group.

thats its new home.
