Dark and distant hills

TeeJay went out on one of our road trips again today. We were headed to a place i had seen many times signposted off the road from Murch to CHCH (a few km's out of Engineers camp) The sign said Lake Sumner Forest Park. Anyway turned out not to be exciting or interesting a expected so after half an hour there we headed on through to Hanmer.
An hour in the hot pools, fabulous lunch, bit of a ride up Jacks Pass and then loitering around Hanmer waiting for the Aussie rugby team to arrive. Just as we had given up and started driving out of town the buggers arrived) So we did a U-turn and headed back to capture some rough shots, they can be seen here
Finally it was time to head home in time for the AB's vs the French. This is the view of the sky over the mountains as we headed back. It was a real struggle to choose between this one and some of the better daylight ones that you can see at the same link as above. But in the end I like the layers, the darkness and the menace that is them there hills.
