Inside the Gold Mine

Great day today, we went to Reefton and took a tour up to the Globe gold mine, it was originally mined as an underground mine down a very long shaft but now it is an open cast mine operated by Oceana Gold which will remove over 1 billion dollars worth or gold. It sits on Conservation land so is a bit controversial but you wouldn't know it was there.

Then it was off for a wander round Reefton. If you ever go to Reefton take the time to stop and chat to the bearded miners....amazing.
