Knot grass caterpillar
Off to body pump again this morning - my sessions have been interrupted recently due to holidays, work travel and taking son back to university. It will hurt tomorrow....
The sun was out in the garden when I got back. Had a patrol round and found this extremely hairy caterpillar munching on the crocosomia leaves. I was a bit concerned that it was a brown tail moth caterpillar at first as I know the hairs from these can cause nasty reactions if they are touched ( information from Butterfly Conservation). I think now that it is a knot grass moth (Acronicta rumicis) - a quite common garden species. It seems to eat lots of different plants.
