Making Waves

After an early park run around with friends we set off for the ferry port for our first family holiday for two years and a first as a family of four.

We pulled up excidedly in between some sort of Classic Cars / Mustang rally of ferry goers. Watching the crowds taking pictures of all the cars except ours I told one photographer he could by all means take a picture of our Renault People Carrier. The reply I got was " I would but its a bit dirty", to be fair he was right.

It had already been too exciting for Baby who had zonked out in the back as soon we boarded the boat as was not happy to be woken to get out of the car. Toddler found it very strange being at sea with the car but like her brother enjoyed waving out at Portsmouth as we departed.

After a super quick journey, where we hardly had time to eat our sandwiches, we were out the other side queuing up with all scarily roaring engines of the classic cars. Toddler in particular was pleased when we turned right and waved them all off before she fell asleep along with Baby, who had already gone off again.

This is to be a fun but slightly strange holiday for me as some time ago I studied and lived on the Isle of Wight. Driving through Newport and seeing a massive B&Q where I used to study was strange enough but sitting in the car in Cowes in the Co-op car park looking at my old house being a fully fledged grown up with two kids in the back whilst Wife got some provisions was simply sureal.

Early arrival at our holiday destination meant that we did most of the on site activities straight away and after a couple of hours we were in our weeks strange but very suitable home. Baby was a little weirded out by being away from home as was I from being so near my old one.

The usual bedtime shenanigans didn't seem so tough away from home. It could be the fresh air, the new surroundings or maybe just jumping in the hot tub at the end of the day to melt the stresses away helped.
