Truly awesome

One of my pet hates is the overuse of the word 'awesome'.

A sandwich, a cup of coffee, a pop song can, by definition, never be 'awesome'

'.......extremely impressive or daunting; inspiring great admiration, apprehension, or fear

The Stones of Stenness are in every sense awesome. They inspire 'awe'.

Who were the people who built them and why? Why do it here? It looks like part of a great concentrated community project - was it.? So many question on how and why it was built

We kept coming back to visit them almost every day for a week and I hope we'll keep coming back
