Mohne Dam

Today we all had a trip out to Mohne Dam which is fairly poignant as it was 65 years ago this week that it was blown up by 617 Squadron.
We stopped on top the dam and spotted this wreath that had been laid by the Royal British Legion to commemorate all those who had were killed, of all nationalities, during the Dambusters Raid on 16/17 May 1943.

The raid caused a lot of damage and thousands lost their lives. The
Mohne Attack was one of a few attacks made on dams across germany.
Today we had Ewans Granny and Grandad with us, over from Southampton.
There where loads of people of all nationalities visiting the dam today, including plenty of Germans.
