Our Friend Sammy

Sammy the Garden Spider lives in our car door mirror and he's a daredevil extraordinaire - his pièce de résistance is to cling on by a single leg attached to a single web strand ... at 70MPH.

He now controls our lives ... we capture and feed him flies ... if we feel he is taking the acrobatics just too far we slow down to 20mph (excluding motorways!) ... there's a running commentary on his antics wherever we travel by day or night.

Of course Sammy may be a Samantha given the size he/she's become since making his/her debut earlier this year, however, until we see a tell-tale egg sac we'll continue to refer to him. That's not to say we wouldn't be very proud grandparents if she were to deliver - oh no, we're beginning to pace the floor.

This is getting weird! And from what I've read on other blogs, we are not alone!
