Mute Swan
Timing is everything. I went out for a quick visit to Kittatinny Park today and other than some foliage and a pretty cool looking praying mantis, I just wasn't feeling it. I am still a bit under the weather, so that probably affected my ability to really "see" things today. That, and the fact that we have a gazillion vicious mosquitoes swarming everywhere right now! (Little suckers are biting even when I have repellant on!)
Anyway, I was driving out of the park and slowed down at the point where there is water on both sides of the road, just a habit. And, WHOA - a swan!!! I have been wanting to get clo9se to one of these all summer! I yanked my car off the road, and leaped out with camera in hand, then stealthily crept around the reeds to get a clear shot. What a beauty! It is not a technically great photo, but I don't care - I love it!! What surprised me is that there was only the one swan; I usually always see them (way off in the distance, of course) in pairs. Just a few seconds after I took this, it took flight. I tried to get that, but all I got was an out-of-focus blur. C'est la vie.
Now I am having some tea, and getting ready for my afternoon appointments. One must work, I guess...
