Church in Slovenia
This was taken on our outing to Lake Bohinj, west of Bled. A large image is best, to see details.
Around Bled is farm country, and this is a small visual slice of it. Every village has its small church, with a steeple more or less like this one (occasionally more elaborate). And every farm has one or more buildings like the one to the right of the church (often larger)--open to the elements, and suitable for storing everything imaginable. In the large view you can see a series of horizontal rails on the left side of the structure--those can be used to hang hay to dry. (And simple structures with only such rails, and a rudimentary roof, can be seen on every field where hay could be harvested--perhaps in my next blip.)
We went on to Vintgar Gorge very near Bled--wonderfully scenic. At the side of the rushing waters we had wonderful views of a White-throated dipper (cinclus cinclus--only the second time we've seen it in Europe; we've seen the North American dipper more often (it's a separate species). Dippers are small bird that can swim; they feed on insects and other creatures in the water.
