Roadside flowers
I've been trying to get a photo of these flowers for ages now but haven't managed it until today.
The first part of my journey to work is through pretty countryside, not much traffic and not too stressful. Then the last 5 miles it gets very built up, going through some of the suburbs of Birmingham - lots of traffic, buses, insane pedestrians who don't look where they are going and don't get me started on the taxi drivers...
But the nice part about this bit of the journey is the flowers along the way. Both King's Heath and Moseley have some lovely flower baskets and boxes along the railings and on the buildings. These flowers are on the railings on the ring road dual carriageway going up towards Five Ways - I'm often queuing up in traffic along here!
The flower boxes are all the way along the railings and on a small part there are also wild flowers underneath on the grass verge - it has been lovely to see all the way through the summer and makes me smile even if I am stuck in traffic and fed up with the journey. Nearly every day, I've had my phone ready to take a photo but most days I've been stuck in 3 lanes of traffic so couldn't get a shot - once or twice I've sailed straight through, but not that often ;o)
Then today, my lane had a queue at the lights and for some reason the outside 2 lanes were empty - had just enough time to wind the window down & take a quick photo before the cars came up.
The flowers are already beginning to look a bit bedraggled so probably won't last that much longer - so I'm glad I got this photo when I could!
