Otahuna Lodge

Today we drove Charlie & Bella to Otahuna Lodge on the outskirts of Christchurch where they are staying the night, it is a beautiful old country home built by the Rhodes family in the pioneering age, now a very exclusive hotel.

We arrived at the big white gates which electricly opened, by the time we drove up the long drive to the house, The House Keeper, Cheif and a maid were waiting by the door for us, It felt like we were stepping into the film Downton Abbey! It was a very warm welcome, we were shown around the Lodge and then offered tea on the verandah, which was very welcome on such a beautiful afternoon.

Their room, or should I say suite, 4 rooms and a verandah! was The Rhodes Suite, one wonders if it was Mr Rhodes own room all those years ago.
Bella works for the Bride Magazine UK so will do an article on the lodge for their Honeymoon Section, they themselves are on a late honeymoon come rugby trip.

I took the chance to wander with my camera in the garden, the daffodils were over their best but I could still picture what they would have been a few weeks ago.

Weve enjoyed having them to stay and so have our boys (the cousins) these holidays always seem to be long coming then fast going as all good things.
