Fungus
I was not very inspired by what I found in the garden today, just the usual birds and flowers, no mammals visited; well not while I was looking.
I saw this fungus the other, day but did not blip it as there were more interesting things around, but today I think it is a worthy candidate. It is growing on what appears to be a tree stump, but there should not be a tree stump in that part of the garden. There may be some old roots from a tree, which had to be felled due to damage caused by the October 1987 gales, but again I do not remember seeing tree roots here for many years.
I do not know what kind of fungus this is, although it might be some kind of bracket fungi; I am putting it up on iSpot in the hope that someone may be able to identify it or maybe someone on here can help.
