Web jewels...
I think I may be getting obsessed with spider's webs, as this is my third this autumn, though all have been very different in approach. This one just makes me smile- I didn't expect all the lovely background colours when I took it. My other favourite photograph of the day (which I've put in my Blipfolio) is a birch tree abstract taken by panning the camera up as I pressed the shutter.
It's been a superb day here in Peterborough, with the most amazing sunrise and sunset, although unfortunately I was driving on both occasions, and unable to stop to take any photographs. This morning there was a heavy mist, and gradually the sun lit up the whole sky in a display of golden light reminiscent of a Turner painting, while a thick veil of mist draped itself over the fields. Even Alex was awestruck.
I dropped him at Huntingdon and was hoping to photograph the last of the mist at Holme Fen on my way home, but I got stuck at a minor level crossing for 22 minutes (an all time record) and watched eight trains go past on the East Coast mainline. By the time the gates finally opened the mist had burnt off, and I was fuming!
This evening, as I pickedAlex up from Peterborough station, the sun was just setting, such an amazingly soft and intense shade of pink in a cloudless pale blue sky. Once again we had a barbecue, and sat watching stars and moths, and listening to tthe calls of the pipstrelle bat, amplified bu our bat detector.
You probably all realise that I'm very behind with comments again. I've been a bit involved with report wrting over the last few days, and the early starts mean there's less time in the evening (and I have less energy) for commenting. I so appreciate all the kind comments I've received lately, especially for my baby snail, and hopefully I'll catch up with you all before too long. x
