Against All Odds
This little sweetie looked all burnt without a chance of becoming a full-blossomed gardenia, but it really didn't care what the odds were. It just popped that ol'burnt shell and made its appearance. No it won't ever look like the specimen that was blipped three days ago, but this has a unique beauty . . . the type of beauty that reveals the struggle and turns the scars into something wonderful.
The sixth day of autumn here in southern California was pleasantly warm at 82 degrees. I spent four hours at the campus today -- worked in the Writing Center and then did lots of time in my office. I came home mid-afternoon so the dogs could be released from their crates; then I placed my laptop on the patio table and worked outdoors for several hours before Mr. Fun arrived home from his day.
As the evening began to make its final approach toward the runway, the air turned chilly and the breeze gained momentum. Then Mr. Fun barbequed some supper for us and soon we were enjoying an evening at home -- a favorite place.
Hope you've had a terrific Wednesday.
Good night from Southern California. Carol
