Demo Day 7

Actually the only way we can keep track of the demo days, is the blip record, so serves a purpose. Not home today so avoided all the chainsawing, crashing, banging, and general destruction noises. Huge amount of noise. Sounded louder from the park behind strangely, must be something about the wind direction and the lack of other buildings blocking the sound when they are working on the second story.
The "good" wood you can see at the front leaning on the house was a recent propping piece that was holding that room above it up since the earthquakes started. I was quite confused when I first saw it as it didnt make much sense with its recent date stamps on the timber. It did a good job in fact although only a temporary one. It did mean that this demolition and salvage was possible, otherwise the entire building would have been about 2 m in total height by now.
Thanks for all the people taking interest. I have not had time to think about commenting lately but appreciate the support. It is strangely mostly annoying to listen to, and to have the boys larking around having fun while wrecking something that was precious and expensive and had a lot of care taken to build and create it. I can totally understand it has no interest to them and love that they are happy on the job, but it is still hard to listen to cheering when a huge section goes crashing off the side onto the ground. The brief visit I made today was very dusty as clouds of particles and dust from mortar and bricks enveloped the site. They were hitting the side of our eldest son's bedroom wall off with sledge hammers at the time so maybe not the best visiting hour!
