Tropical Cyclone 8

Today, the T8 signal was hoisted in Hong Kong by the HK observatory. Basically, this means that gale force winds are apparent and it also means that everything in HK comes to a standstill. Financial markets close down, no-one goes in to work, transport all but stops, schools immediately shut and everyone stays in the house driving each other crazy!
I went out in the T8 this morning, probably not my most sensible decision, but Richard's Mum Judy, was on her way from Australia and I needed provisions. It was certainly windy and quite hard to walk in a straight line at some points and there were fallen branches etc but as it wasn't a direct hit the devastation wasn't too bad.
Just one of the joys of living in Hong...
