Vignoble alsacien
And here it is: the Alsatian wine country of which I spoke yesterday. And it goes on like this, hillside after hillside.
Had another go at it today, as we went to visit some cousins of mine whose village (Turkheim) is one of those on the route du vin. Their grapes and wine are processed as part of the village's cooperative, but my cousin also processed his own wine and had us taste it: it was a wonderful pinot noir -- of which I'm very fond in any case.
After a leisurely 3-hr (!) lunch in the mountains, they took us to visit the place where Munster cheese is made (the town actually bears that name) and I will never, ever buy this in a regular grocery store again, now that I've reacquainted myself with the real thing. :)
Tomorrow, time to pack the suitcases... I'm sad.
