Rebooked

Same cruise, different company. We have rebooked the cruise, except we are having to depart from Barcelona, which rather mucks up my plans. I had booked us three days in Valencia prior to the cruise (original one) as we were departing from Valencia.

New cruise departs from Barcelona, so I've had top rearrange our pre cruise holiday.

Spent ages on the phone to Expedia, explained our problem, thought it would be easy enough just to rebook our hotel, no such luck. Because I was cancelling our Valencia booking there would be no refund, as per the hotel contract, so potentially 165 quid down the drain.

I phoned the hotel and spoke to the manager, explained the situation, offered to reschedule, so instead of Thursday, Friday, Saturday, we do Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, he was happy with that. Back onto Expedia, rebooked the hotel for the new dates and a different hotel in Barcelona. At the end of the conversation with the very helpful young man, he made a comment about having to pay for the Saturday night in the hotel in Valencia as we had cancelled that night, I said I'd been on the phone to the manager of the hotel and he was happy that we moved our 3 days and no cancellation fee for the Saturday night. I suggested that he phone the hotel and speak to the manager, which he did, result, we actually had a 55 quid refund as our new dates were cheaper than the original ones. So we now have 3 days in Valencia, a night in Barcelona and a 7 day cruise, its a hard life ..

The refund now pays for the car parking for the week.
