HUET
Most offshore workers travel to their work by helicopters. A helicopter is a very delicate and top heavy transport. If they have to make an emergency landing at sea, it is questionable if they stay afloat in a upright position. That is why we also have to train in escaping capsized and sinking helicopters. This is the (by a lot of people feared) so called HUET training. Helicopter Underwater Escape Training. A helicopter cabin hanging above a basin. Basically it is the idea to put four people in this cabin, strap them to their seat, lower it in the water, capsize it and let the people push out the windows and escape from the submerged and upside down cabin. Very useful to learn and also hoped that we never have to use this in real.
