I was looking around for something to photograph when Richard Haas' Native American Flute prompted me to get this down from the high shelf where it lives.
It is a traditional Lappish drum, made for me by a Finnish girlfriend (pre-C) in evening classes. It has a beautiful timbre and apparently, should be used by holding the ring on the back and striking the reindeer skin of the front with a bone.
It is the nicest home-made present anyone has ever given me and reminds me of its presence while I work by making slight noises as the skin contracts and relaxes with changes of temperature in my 'office'.
Oops, yesterday I forgot to put a link to bench 108. I thought the red balloon had come back, deflated. It turned out to be a BabyBel rind.
