Oh Please Don't Teazle Me
Bit of a quiet day today - walked the dogs - took my mum to the doctors - took my dad to the pub for lunch - watched 'Weakest Link' while mum had an afternoon nap - came home and cooked my daughter some tea - soon I will be taking the dogs out again- then settling down to watch 'The Great British Bakeoff' (wife's got the remote!)
Listened to Radio 5 on the way down to mum's - they were talking to the woman, Lucy Gale, who was given the 'Outstanding Bravery' award at The Pride of Britain Awards. This lady rescued 2 drivers from a railway level crossing - the one driver had stopped at the barrier but a car behind hit her on to the rails and finished up alongside the first car. Lucy got both drivers to safety and then with the train visible and the train driver waving his arms she drove the first car off the rails to avoid the collision with the train. She left the scene shortly after but gave the woman in the first car her card in case she needed a witness for the insurance. It was with this card that the authorities could identify her and celebrate her bravery.
On the radio she said 'you don't know how you'll react to situations like this - but I know that I haven't lost a night's sleep by saving these people - but had I stood and watched I don't think I could rest at night' - what a brave lady. The award ceremony is on tv tomorrow night.
