The Scaliger railing
Been visiting again today, this is the railing outside my mother-in-law's care home. the railings are an exact copy of those surrounding the tombs of the House of Scaliger, rulers of Verona in the 14th century.
The inscription reads "The Scaliger railing "Verona" 1380. this exact copy was made at Portobello, Midlothian, 1890, by James Ross, blacksmith, along with David Greg, his assistant, in this work."
It is amazing what you walk\drive past without noticing.
