Metla building

This is the Metla (Finnish Forest Research Institute) building in Joensuu. It was the first large wooden office building in Finland and has received several accolades for its architecture, lighting and use of wood as building material. I used to work there for a couple of months while doing my thesis in 2007. The dark, low structure in the middle is a meeting space called "Käpy" (cone). The entrance to Käpy is situated inside the rest of the building.
