Olives

I think this will be our entire crop for this year, thanks to an attack by olive fly which has damaged most of the olives on our two small trees. I'm glad to have these, though, and I'll cure them so that we can eat them with our now traditional apéritifs in the garden at Christmas and New Year.

And there's a link with peace too, which olive trees traditionally symbolise. Kendallishere is in Washington DC today to join the gathering in the Freedom Plaza, demanding global peace and social justice, an end to the system where the USA, the richest nation in the world, spends unimaginable amounts of money on destroying other countries while its own people lack basic healthcare.
