Parking

These are all parked cars. The standard of parking in Moscow is abominable.

It is (until a new law comes into effect later this year) illegal to restrict or charge for on-street parking. Perhaps for this reason, people seem to think they don't need to go to the trouble of actually putting their car into the free space: as long as you sort of nudge one end in to show that you do in principle understand what parking is, you can leave the back sticking out into the road with impunity.

The lady of the car on the right saw me photograph her car and angrily protested that she was only going to collect something, and all the other places around were full, and what was she supposed to do?

Well, what indeed.
