Still hanging in there...
Considering it's so late in the season, this migrant hawker dragonfly was looking surprisingly perky this morning! Quite a surprise considering we'd had torrential rain during the trip down to Huntingdon (the first morning we've had rain since Alex started on 12th September), the temperature had plummeted and a strong north-westerly breeze had sprung up. But despite the autumnal feel of the day, a sheltered willowy corner had a couple of dragonflies darting about, as well as a brief flash of a red admiral.
Most of the day was spent printing out three copies of a major monitoring report. We don't usually have to do this as normally our work is sent electronically and printed by the clients. I'd forgotten how time consuming it is and how much ink is used. We had to dash out for replacements half way through the day! What ever happened to the paperless office?
So I'm totally behind with comments again... I was delighted by your response to my dishevelled heron - he did look rather comical - but I'm unlikely to be able to reciprocate for a day or two. Tomorrow I've got to do a rushed interim report (only requested at 5pm today) before taking the boys out for a lunchtime picnic with some friends, to celebrate Alex's upcoming 18th birthday. This will involve early morning baking!
