A Sasanach's Skye photos

A view of the Isle of Skye

Returning from a days shopping in Inverness with my wife driving the van I took this photograph of the Skye Bridge with the Isle of Skye beyond. It had been a fairly horrendous journey with spells of torrential rain. By the time we arrived here it was 1647 hrs and as you can see, wet and dull.

On our way to Inverness whilst I was driving, probably too fast as usual, we had come to the top of Glen Sheil and the van had drifted sideways due to ice and water upon the road. These sorts of experiences make for exciting body reactions; the heart missed a beat but I automatically steared into the slide thus correcting the vehicle.

We had had a successful day shopping but as always it was a pleasure to get home again. The journey to Inverness only took about two hours whereas the return took more like two and a half hours. It is about 114 miles each way. The joys of living on the Isle of Skye
