Insightful inspiration

For my current Honors project i have been researching the contemporary craft scene in Scotland. This image gives an insight into one of the areas of research i have found to be currently arising with in the field. The book is an instruction manual which i have photocopied this page gives detailed instructions on how to turn a blank into a wonderfully crafted spindle. I noticed in this book that none of the hands or people have any detail at all, but surely these crafts people are the most important part of the process. Whilst researching in the library i stumped upon a book of trees that had great detailed pictures of the bark. So in this picture i have given the craftspersons hands the detail of the bark, illustrating that the skills required to make such beautifully crafted objects come from the craftspersons hands themselves and not a instruction manual.
