Coveted Quahog, painting in progress
Sea Shell
Amy Lowell
Sea Shell, Sea Shell,
Sing me a song, O Please!
A song of ships, and sailor men,
And parrots, and tropical trees,
Of islands lost in the Spanish Main
Which no man ever may find again,
Of fishes and corals under the waves,
And seahorses stabled in great green caves.
Sea Shell, Sea Shell,
Sing of the things you know so well.
A few months ago, my niece, S and her boyfriend D , had a little get-a-way at a B&B in Provincetown on beautiful Cape Cod. This shell, subject of my painting, was just outside their door, on their deck facing the sea. I started the painting last week and hope to finish it today. My painter's helper was accessing the progress this morning and checking the dryness. S is G's big sister , a true redhead and really wonderful young woman.
