Redbud Tree

My sister cam to town and she is not only a "birder" but quite a knowledgeable gal when it comes to fauna and flora! She accompanied me on our daily walk and it was so fun to have a second pair of eyes!! I learned about many plants and spied a beautiful ornamental tree that we found in several yards! It is just now starting to turn a darker purple, and should be spectacular in a few weeks before it sheds it leaves...it is called a Redbud tree, or more formally known as cercis canadensis.
