Going straight
There is nothing like spending money to cheer you up, well to cheer me up anyway!
After dreaming about buying tickets for 'Sixteen' next week with Allan I woke early and discovered that, yes, there was a link on the Queen's Hall site to tickets for 'elsewhere'. Unfortunately the bit of the dream where we got really good seats proved to be a mirage and we are in the cheap, aisle seats but it's singing, so I'm sure it will be ok.
Got so involved in writing a letter I almost missed my eye test appointment but got up, showered and scampered down Lothian Road to make it ok. I have now spent a great deal of money, so therapeutic, on 2 new pairs of specs - racy red (for high days and holidays) and rimless for everyday, sensible wear.
After an adjustment from Shauna I had a bit of silent contemplation in St Cuthbert's. Felt I needed some repose to reflect. It was where we went for school services but I don't think I've been there since the school choir sang at a recording of 'Songs of Praise' with Leonard Small, circa 1969! How time flies.
On the way home, having failed to buy English Breakfast Tea, I flashed the plastic again and bought a lovely yellow teapot from Pekoe Tea in Tollcross. However, I did resist the beautiful Victorian opal and diamond ring in Rose Street - but maybe ....
Wrote more stuff this afternoon - forms and yet more forms. Why can't people format their forms properly? So irritating. But I was able to sit in a bright, sunny kitchen to do it. I'm hoping the new set up won't be too light. But it makes such a difference - no tree!!
Been better news on the 'keeping in touch with family' front. #2 son came round and we had a good chat. He is still unemployed, but he has a list and plans. Just wish he'd get settled. Then this evening I caught up with #3 son who seems to be enjoying Aber, not that he seems to be doing very much yet. He was about to phone me - but that's only because he needs his dive log found. Cupboard love! However, # 1 son and #1 daughter in law appear to have vanished off the face of the earth, or switched their phones off.
As you can see we have tram lines. Interesting seeing them laid bare.
Normal service has been resumed with Molly - she's hasn't moved much all day. I think she may take a few days to recover from her exertions at #64!
Thanks for all your supportive comments yesterday. It wasn't that bad a day and I'm a bit clearer what I'm going to do next. Onward and upward!
Edit - meant to add, check out a year ago moving from La G. Another 'doesn't time fly' moment.
