The National Happy Service
I've been single-handedly draining the NHS's budget for years, claiming £1000s-worth of free treatment (aren't you jealous, my American friends?). Today it was the turn of this lovely endodontist (on the left) and her equally lovely assistant to sort me out. She drilled a hole in my head (well, actually through the bone above my teeth) to clear out some gunk in a root canal that had been a bit of a nasty nuisance for months. It didn't hurt, just lots of horribly noisy drilling, and all the while lots of reassuring noises. She called me "Pet", which was nice. Now I'm all stitched up and dosed with antibiotic.
