'Family of Man' Fun

We've been to Snape, in Suffolk today. When Mr H and I saw this, we were mucking about a bit and taking photographs of Mr H with his head through the holes. Then I discovered that the this is a Barbara Hepworth sculpture called 'The Family of Man from 'Nine Figures on a Hill'. It was placed at Snape as a memorial to Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears at the request of the Hepworth Estate. Snape Maltings concert hall is home to the Aldeburgh Music Festival, hence the connection to Britten and Pears.

It's an amazing sculpture in an amazing setting. I've been to the Barbara Hepworth museum in St Ives, Cornwall previously and thoroughly enjoyed her work.

It was a blustery day, much much colder than of late and a bit damp, to boot. We did enjoy a nice cup of warming tea in the cafe afterwards.
