Crossroads of Goodbye to Steve Jobs
Today we were in Palo Alto for breakfast, a farmers' market, and other errands. We went by the home where Steve Jobs lived. It's in a leafy neighborhood in Palo Alto, not the most exclusive, not gated, not particularly imposing. The home sits at a corner, and the cross streets were blocked to through traffic, as were some of the sidewalks. A TV crew from Brazil was there, recording a standup report. About 50 people of all ages and colors stood quietly and respectfully. The fence around the yard (a front yard filled with fruit trees, including apple trees) was lined with bouquets, cards, tokens and candles. The cards were in at least 7 different languages, and included all varieties of personal design. There were carved apples, jewelry, cardboard creations of 'computers' and computer screens, and multiple copies of the Apple website photo of Steve Jobs. The house was still, although some windows were open to the noon breeze. No cops, no ruckus, just a number of neighbors and out of towners, paying respects to a guy whose vision was broad and deeply influential.
We hope his family has peace.
Cancer sucks.
