Point de Vue

Time travel

Today we went to the Waterford festival on a beautiful fall day, with bright skies.

Waterford is national historic site in Virginia, which is celebrating its 150th commemoration of the Civil War. At the time, its population was largely Quakers and as such pacificist and abolitionist. It voted against secession -- one of the only villages in Virginia to do so. It was the scene of fierce fighting between the county's Unionists and Confederates and many of its families were torn apart.

The day featured reenactments (aka my blip), arts and crafts, food (of course) and a tours of historic houses and landmarks. Very enjoyable!

Tomorrow: golf! :)
