Mystery Murder

This is really, really weird. When my daughter woke up, her hand felt something slimey on her right pillow. Under the ruffles was this strange sight -- a dead rodent, judging from its two remaining identifiable hind legs and tail. Its head is obviously seemingly chewed off and its insides were already exposed outside. This strange murder remains a mystery, considering that we don't have any cats at home, and nobody else could possibly be in our bedroom other than ourselves who had been fast asleep prior to this discovery... Any suggested answer to this mystery?
