After the morning rain, the weather cleared and we decided to go out and investigate the road to Fintry past the Carron Reservoir. This road has been "closed" for many weeks due to the laying of a new water supply pipe. The road surface has suffered badly from hard winters and the heavy traffic to the windfarm and for the pipe-layers. There are some stretches which come close to rattling your fillings loose!
However, we reached the reservoir and found it full to the brim and the westerly breeze was pushing waves over the dam wall. Quite spectacular and this was a blip possibility until I spotted these two little characters. No altogether sure what they are, some sort of grebe, possibly. Someone out there, please advise. They were very close to the shore line and not concerned about us. We watched them for a while as they disappeared underwater and then popped up again quite away from where they started. Hope they had good fishing!
