"Catharine and Other Writings"

Dear Heart,
I have spent much of today cushioned in sleep, reading Austen and Anne Finch and Angela Carter. I love all of my lectures and seminars. Tomorrow is my most difficult day, but even that I am sure I shall enjoy.
The clouds rolled in this morning, thick and fast. I thought I should drown under them; they threatened me with rain. But I held fast, climbed up out of bed and dressed. I faced them. Are you very proud of me?
Love, Lydia x
