Lathyrus odoratus

Not a crocus!

At work dawn to dusk, I took some nice early morning shots only to find the camera had reset its date ... to 1999 ... the EXIF data failed the test!

So this little bouquet I picked for you in the gathering gloom.

Not so remarkable to have sweet peas in October but these were the first flowers on two self sown seedlings, from last years plants. Too dry for the seed to germinate in spring, the little plants have developed to flowering size after the summer rains. More remarkable is the Iris unguicularis picked at the same time. The winter flowering Iris does not usually share its flowers until late November, when the scent of sweet peas has long since been blown away.

I might share the Iris with you tomorrow.
