2011 Challenge - My Neighbors

This is the moon rising above the Performance Annex at the local park. The three figures you see just below the Annex stage are some of the homeless who live in the area. From left to right: Larry (whose companion is GiGi, his dog), Tommy (bending over to pick up a recyclable can) and Tony.
As evening approaches they pack up their gear to go to their various "hideaways" where they spend the night.
Each has his own story about why they are homeless.
Most people ignore them. Some people harass them. A few people help them.
But still, they are people. Yes, they don't exactly fit into the mainstream culture, but they are still people regardless of that fact.
It makes me sad that so many people fall through the cracks in our society and are left out in the cold (literally), to be treated like unwanted and carelessly discarded litter.
BUT! These people ARE my neighbors.
I just wanted to state that they are NOT invisible.
