Tree Planting (Mechanics thereof)
The big house under construction in back of ours is having perhaps a dozen good-sized trees planted around it. The house is just visible behind the red container in the background here (this is a clearer view of it).
The process began early this morning with the delivery of this blue backhoe with a forklift, via the trailer behind the red pickup truck. After dropping off the backhoe, the truck and trailer went off to pick up trees (this was only the first delivery), and the forklift then served to pick them up one-by-one, as here, and carry them to where they'd be planted. The backhoe itself (out of sight to the left here) served to dig the holes for planting. Manpower was needed mainly to shovel dirt around the roots.
I've tagged this as one of my Noho construction series--where you can follow the whole story of building the two houses--first our small one, and then some images of the big one.
